A lot of my favorites this week have to do with cold weather: TV shows, lip products, warm clothes, etc! I highly recommend the winter berry tea from Teavana, along with the perfect tea maker, which makes it really easy to brew the tea into any cup. I've been obsessed with high-end and drugstore lip products lately, even more so because of the cold weather. This Fresh set is a great deal because you get three minis and a lip scrub. I also bought a pack of Lip Smackers because I thought they were going out of business but that may not actually be the case. (Oh well! I'm happy with my purchase anyway!) I rediscovered the Girl Meets Pearl highlighter and have been using it with a stippling brush for the high points of my cheeks. As you know already, I've been watching The Blacklist non-stop and finally got caught up this weekend. Lastly, this Zella hoodie and The North Face hat have both been great winter staples for me.

Best Dressed at the Oscars

Monday, February 23, 2015

There were so many beautiful gowns at this year's Oscars but overall, nothing blew me away and nothing was a huge surprise. There were a lot of black and white gowns, along with red and multi-colored beaded dresses, and then a few outside the box colors. My top 3 were: Rosamund Pike, Reese Witherspoon and Margot Robbie.

Jenna Dewan Tatum, Anna Faris, Lupita Nyongo, Reese Witherspoon

Dakota Johnson, Rosamund Pike, Behati Prinsloo

Nicole Kidman, Emma Stone, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston

Naomi Watts, Margot Robbie

9 Shows to Binge Watch This Weekend

Saturday, February 21, 2015

With all the horrible winter weather lately, I've been catching up and binge watching some great shows. With things like Netflix, On Demand and Hulu, it's super easy to discover new shows and then watch all the episodes from the beginning. Below are some of the ones I recommend:

Friday Night Lights: Set in a small Texas town, this show is about a high school football team, the coach and his family. Sounds like a classic teen drama but it's so much more than that.

Homeland: About a CIA agent who also struggles with mental health issues. She is extremely smart and good at her job but sometimes makes questionable decisions.

Orange is the New Black: Based on the memoir, this show is about an upper/middle class white woman who goes to prison years after committing a non-violent crime.

The Blacklist: One of the FBI's most wanted comes back to work with the FBI and sets his sights on Agent Elizabeth Keen, who he has a strange connection with.

Scandal: A DC-area "fixer" saves powerful politicians from bad situations...and gets into some herself.

House of Cards: A manipulative politician works his way up by playing his cards just right, no matter what the stakes.

The Affair: This is of course, about an affair, but there is also a mystery woven through the episodes about something that happens as a result of the two main characters' secret relationship.

How to Get Away with Murder: A high-powered lawyer takes students under her wing to teach them how to be defense lawyers...they really do learn how to get away with murder.

Breaking Bad: A former high school chemistry teacher becomes a meth cook along with his former student.

Which TV shows do you recommend?

The Best Tinted Lip Balms

Friday, February 20, 2015

With all the cold weather, I've been really into lip products that moisturize and provide color. Hence, the tinted lip balm. I've picked up a few new ones recently and have been rotating through them for the last few weeks. Some are great paired with a clear lip gloss and others are great on their own. I keep a few at my desk, in my purse and at home because I'm always applying them throughout the day. Here are my current faves:

What are you favorite tinted lip balms?

Happy Friday!

I am so excited for the Cinderella movie that comes out in March so when the Cinderella collection from Mac was announced, it caught my eye right away. All the products are inspired by the movie and the packaging is that classic Cinderella blue. The collection includes glitters, powders, brushes, fluid liners, an eyeshadow palette, lipsticks, lip glosses, mascara and eye gloss. It will be available online on February 26 and in stores on March 5.

If you want to see swatches, check out Makeup by Tiffany D's blog post

NYC Recap and Weekly Wish List

Just got back late on Monday from a great trip to NYC this weekend! We met up with my sister and her bf and her friends. My bf and I tried the famous Bubby's for the first time and had a fabulous breakfast -- seriously best pancakes and bacon ever. We also checked out Chelsea Market, a great open food and shopping market. The real reason I went to NYC though was for a wearable technology panel in partnership with Made Fashion Week and NBA All-Star Weekend -- coolest part, Carmelo Anthony was the guest of honor!

Also, here's my weekly wish list, with a few things that caught my eye when we were out shopping this weekend:

Sugar Lip Treatment, Sugar Lip Shine (Love this combo!!)

Happy hump day!

A Night Out With Tablelist & $50 Credit

Tuesday, February 10, 2015

It's not that easy to go out at night in the winter in New England. First of all, it's freezing cold. Second of all, no one wants to wait in line to get into a bar while standing in the cold. Third of all, it's hard to come up with a cute outfit that keeps you warm enough. But, as tough New Englanders we learn how to cope!

Tablelist, a mobile app and online service that allows you to book table and bottle service at bars and clubs, makes the process of going out a little easier.

I tested out Tablelist this past weekend. The process was seamless. The app asks for a few pieces of basic information and also gives a short survey asking about your preferences. I thought the survey was an interesting feature because it's a good way for Tablelist to get to know its users and perhaps update the app accordingly in the future.

I booked the table and bottle of champagne and selected the date and time. The interface is pretty cool. It shows pictures of each location and offers choices at several price points. Once you've selected, the app also asks if you want a reminder to book an Uber before your reservation. That was definitely a useful feature since I usually get carried away getting ready for the night.

Once we got to Gem on Friday night, everything was great. We walked right in and our table was ready. Shortly after, we shared a nice bottle of champagne and later ordered some wine as well. It was really easy and stress free to know we already had a table set aside and our first round of drinks ready when we arrived. I would recommend using Tablelist if you know you have a group of people that want to go out or if you are having a birthday party or something similar.

Tablelist was nice enough to set me up with a promo code for all of you! You can sign up here or download the app (search for Tablelist in the app store). Then enter the promo code: PRETTYPIECESVIP to get $50 in Tablelist credit to use for a future booking.

Finding Skinny Jeans to Wear With Boots

Monday, February 9, 2015

With the rough winter we've had so far, I've been living in jeans and boots. I've always found it difficult to find good pairs of jeans that tuck into boots easily and don't look all bunchy in the wrong places. Recently I found a few pairs that I love and can wear with my leather boots and snow boots. Here are some of my favorite combinations:

What combinations have you been living in this winter?
