Weekly Wish List

I'm slowly starting to think spring with my wardrobe. I've stopped buying winter clothes and I've started transitioning to in-between season clothing like 3/4 length sleeves, lighter sweaters, flats and capris.

Banana Republic has some great new stuff this season, like this mint blouse, and everything is 40% off this weekend.

A white bag has been on my wish list for a while and I love the shape and size of this Kate Spade one.

Finally, Tory Burch has come out with patterned flats that I love...a local boutique has these in blue and they are adorable.

This Trouve sweater from Nordstrom is a great in-betweener piece.

Happy Friday!

Yoga Essentials

Yoga Essentials

I've been doing yoga lately as a switch from my normal workouts at the gym. I find it's an excellent way to stretch out after a long week of sitting in a cubicle. Personally, I prefer tight fitting clothing that doesn't get in the way during class, such as the Lululemon scoop neck tank top, which has a nice thick fabric and built in bra. I also plan to buy the yoga hand towel soon because it helps with slipping on the mat.

Easy Breakfast Recipe: Overnight Oats

Monday, February 24, 2014

I don't like to cook and I'm not really that good at it (yet). But I do love making super easy recipes like muffins, cookies and salads. I had seen overnight oats on Pinterest in every form imaginable so I was excited when my sister (p.s. check out her food blog!) shared a great recipe with me. It couldn't be easier to make and faster to take in the morning -- and you can eat it hot or cold with any combination of toppings that you want.

Here is the recipe I've been using:

1/2 Cup of Oats
3/4 to 1 Cup of Almond Milk (or soy milk)
1 Tablespoon of Chia & Flax Seeds Blend (optional, adds fiber, omega 3s, and protein)
1/2 Cup Blueberries (or other fruit of your choice -- I use golden raisins)
1 Packet of Truvia (or other zero calorie sweetener if you like they sweeter)
3 Shakes of Cinnamon
1. Measure the oats and pour them into your tupperware container.
2. Next, measure the almond milk and pour it directly on top of your oats.
3. Add your chia & flax seeds, if you want.
4. Now add your fruit.
5. At this point you can add any additional flavorings you like.
I like to add truvia and cinnamon to sweeten it up a bit.

Stir everything together in your tupperware, pop the lid on, and place it in the refrigerator to sit all night and enjoy in the morning!
You can heat the oats up in the microwave if you want, or eat them cold.

Friday Night Outfit

Friday, February 21, 2014

Target shirt (similar), BCBG skirt, Gigi NY clutch, Mac lip gloss (similar), GroopDealz necklace

Thinking of wearing this out to the Forever 20-Something's event this weekend. I'll add a pair of tights and heels or boots to finish it off. The Target tshirt is a great duplicate to the Rag & Bone Brando tee and it was only $12! I couldn't find it online anymore but I'm pretty sure it's still available in stores.

What to Wear to a Bridal Shower

What to Wear to a Bridal Shower

I have some upcoming wedding events and I've been thinking about pulling the trigger on a new outfit. The new arrivals at Lilly Pulitzer have caught my eye and I love the pattern on this one. For a bridal shower, you can't go wrong with a springy shift dress with bright colors and basic accessories. Plus, you'll be able to reuse the dress for other bridal and springtime events.

Weekly Wish List

This week my wish list reflects some ideas I have for what I want to wear to upcoming weddings and parties this spring. I also have a few gift cards left from my birthday that are burning a hole in my pocket. The Kate Spade purse is a great basic and has more room than most mini cross body bags. The Theory peplum top is even more amazing in person and is a classic piece to own. The Nanette dress looks fabulous on -- however I still haven't decided on it since I have a few more options. Lastly, I have a gift card to Kate Spade and if I don't use it for the purse, I might use it on this colorful necklace.

Happy hump day!

Winter Reading List

Tuesday, February 18, 2014

Two couples meet over "The Dinner" to discuss something regarding their children. The entire book is set at this dinner and in flashbacks. You learn about the relationships between the two couples and how they differ when it comes to their children. This is a creepy, suspenseful book that's creatively centered around one tense meal. Book review here

This is a heartwarming story about a young woman who takes a job caring for a man in a wheelchair. That might sound boring, but it's really a beautiful story about two unlikely friends who bond over the most simple things. Book review here

Everyone knows this story from the TV show on Netflix, but I recommend reading the book first. It's such an interesting story of a upper/middle class white girl who goes to prison for a small crime she committed 10 years prior. She ends up bonding with the women in prison and learning a lot about herself and life. The TV has a different tone, more comical and lighthearted. I just started the TV show and I like the book and show for different reasons and recommend both. Book review here.

Happy reading!

Olympic Style: Supporting Team USA!

Olympic Style

I don't know about you but I have a thing for the Olympics. Maybe because I interned at the Vancouver Olympics in 2010 or because I'm an avid sports fan. Anyway, each Olympics the team USA gear is pretty cool and seeing the athletes wear it makes it even cooler. Even if you don't buy some of the official gear, there are plenty of ways to show your support for team USA by reaping the red, white and blue. Above are some ideas to look like a team USA super fan.

Go Team USA!

Super Steal: Sperry Nantucket Loafers

Friday, February 14, 2014

I just had to share this amazing pair of shoes I found at Second Time Around this week. STA stores are having a 70% off sale so I went over there to see if there was anything I couldn't live without. When I came across these Sperry loafers, I liked them but wasn't committed to buying them. Then when I found out the price, $35 with 70% off = $10, I warmed right up to the idea. Amazingly I had an STA gift card with about $6 left on it so I got the shoes for only $3!

They are in great condition, it looks like they were hardly worn, if at all. They are still available on select websites such as here and retailed originally for $90. So excited to wear these with ankle jeans or skirts in the spring!

At Work Essentials

Thursday, February 13, 2014

Chi body lotion -- my hands get super dry all day at my desk so I keep this nearby, I actually got it at the hotel we stayed at in Mexico, I was thrilled to see that they had Chi products.

NYX Butter Gloss -- this stuff is almost a cross between lip gloss and balm, super easy to apply and isn't too much to wear around the office. I have the apple strudel color and also creme brulee.

EOS lip balm in strawberry sorbet -- I use this as a base before lip gloss or when my lips are super dry, it's the most moisturizing stuff I've tried.

Enjoy the little things notebook (similar) -- I found this at Marshall's for $3! It's great for keeping to-do lists and fits nicely in most purses.

What things do you always keep at your desk?

Eyeshadow Palettes

Eyeshadow Palettes

Lately I've been loving eyeshadow palettes with a variety of nude colors. I used to only wear gold eyeshadow and only owned about 2 different shades. But recently I've bought a few new palettes and I love the different shades I can wear depending on my outfit. Ever since I got my new palettes I've had my eyes on a few more. Above are some of the ones on my wish list.

Back from Cancun!

Sunday, February 9, 2014

We got back from Cancun last night and as soon as we walked out of the airport we felt the 20 degree weather and harsh wind of the Boston winter. The last week was an amazing break from work and real life -- sitting by the pool, golfing, sipping tropical drinks was exactly what I needed. Cancun is a beautiful place and we had incredible weather every day. I feel so refreshed and I'm even a little bit tan (if you can call red and peeling tan!) Here are some pictures from my trip!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Escaping the Polar Vortex

Sunday, February 2, 2014

I'm headed to Cancun, Mexico in what could not be better timing. I'm escaping Boston in the midst of the polar vortex to get some sun and sand down south. I can't wait to golf, swim and relax. I'll be back to blogging next week!
