Summer Reading

Books I Recommend:

Jeannette Walls, author of The Glass Castle, writes about two sisters, Bean and Liz, and their crazy mother in 1970. When their mother goes away on an extended period of time off from her daughters, they travel east to their mother's hometown in Virginia. They stay with their uncle, Tinsley, in his rotting old mansion and slowly start to learn about their family history.

Great read, if you enjoyed The Glass Castle you will definitely enjoy this one!

I always need a good, trashy, romantic novel to read on the beach in the summer. Before seeing the movie, be sure to read the book. It's about a girl named Katie who flees the life she knew for a fresh start in North Carolina. She has a secret, which we don't find out until later in the book, but starts to put her life on the right track. She meets Alex, a nice guy who owns the town general store and starts to fall in love. Then her past starts to creep up on her. I was lukewarm about most Nicholas Sparks books but this was a pretty good one.

Books on My List:

I heard this book is similar to Gone Girl in that it's about a crazy, twisted relationship between a husband and a wife. There is a murder and a constant back and forth between the man and woman. Looking forward to another suspenseful read!

The author of Prep just came out with Sisterland which is about twin sisters, one of which is a psychic. Not sure about this one but I like Sittenfeld and would be willing to give it a try.
